Will you marry me? Cont...Pt5

“Are we already here?”

“Yup with about 20 minutes to spare!”

Resena could hardly believe her good fortune, thank goodness she met Mr. Spencer, she didn’t know what would have happened if she hadn’t been able to complete this task!

“Mr. Spencer, thank you again so much for this!”

“Julius, and it was my pleasure. Come on, lets these bags in there before they close for the day.”

“(Smiling), Okay!”

The Bigalow place was a popular cleaner’s shop. Everyone within a 50-mile radius came to this shop. It was owned by Mrs. Femella and her husband, though most of the time it was her in front of the shop and Mr. Femella in the back. Mrs. Femella was short pretty woman with thick dark hair and thick arched eyebrows. She was as tough as they came but also very nurturing and kind. She had taken a liking to Resena and was always kind to her whenever she came to the shop. Though she didn’t know her full story, she knew Resena was not being treated well in that house. A bell rang as Julius opened the door indicating a customer had arrived. Mrs. Femella immediately rushed from the back.

“Hello! Welcome to The Bigalow! Can I help you?”

“Hello Mrs. Femella!”

“Resena? Is that you?”

“Yes ma’am! It’s me. How are you?”

“I’m doing great! How are you! I haven’t seen you in a while! I guess those dreadful people haven’t had any drycleaning needs.”

Resena tensed up, she didn’t want Julius to hear that last remark about her family. Looking over Resena’s shoulder, she noticed Julius holding the bags.

“(Smiling), Ms. Resena! Who’s this? He’s handsome!”

Though she wasn’t sure why, Mrs. Femella’s comment made Resena blush a little.

“Um, this is Mr. Spencer. Mr. Spencer, this is Mrs. Femella, her and her husband own the shop.”

“(Smiling), Julius. Nice to meet you Mrs. Femella.”

“Nice to meet you too Julius. So how do you know our Resena?”

“Well…”

“Mr. Spencer saw me walking and was nice enough to offer me a ride.”

Julius figured she wouldn’t want anyone to know the full truth regarding how they met. He was glad she quickly answered the question as he couldn’t think of what to say on the spur of the moment. He concluded Resena must’ve thought of what to say during the ride there.

“That was so nice of you! Thank you so much for helping her! It’s awful having her carry such heavy bags to walk miles! Thank you so much Julius!”

Feeling a little awkward, Julius simply smiled and held his hand up as if to say no need for thanks. Resena’s face began to get a little red, though she wasn’t sure why. What was she so bashful for?

“Okay, so we’ve got five bags of clothes?”

“Yes ma’am”

“No worries my dear, I’ll have these cleaned and pressed in three days! Here’s your ticket.”

As Resena took the cleaner’s ticket and placed it in her pocket, Julius was concerned about the three days. “How is she supposed to carry these clothes back home? I wonder if she would be okay with giving me her number?” To his surprise, Julius had grown extremely concerned about this woman he had just met. Nevertheless, she would need assistance with these bags.

“Mrs. Femella, thank you again so much.”

“No problem at all beautiful! You get home safely. Mr. Julius, thank you again for helping my girl here.”

“It was my pleasure.”

Waving goodbye, Resena and Julius headed out the door. As Julius went to open the passenger door, he noticed Resena walking past the shop.

“Resena?”

Confused, Resena turned towards Julius.

“Yes?”

“Where do think you’re going?”

“(Confused) I’m sorry?”

“Where are you going? Get in please.”

At that moment, Resena realized what he meant, Julius planned on taking her home as well.

“Mr. Spencer…”

“Julius”

“Mr. Spencer I can’t let you take me home! That’s entirely too much! You’ve gone out your way enough as it is!”

“Julius. Please. And Resena, I’m not going out of my way. I offered you! But I cannot let you walk all the way home. It’s getting dark and wherever you live it’s over two miles. So please get in.”

Resena thought for a moment but then decided against it. She had already taken up too much of this man’s time. Slowly, she turned around and began to walk.

“Even if you don’t get into the car, I’m going to follow you. So wouldn’t it be better to just get in?”

Puzzled; Resena turned around and stared at Julius. Why was he being so nice to her? Why was he so concerned? Was it because he knew she was tired? Whatever the reason, as soon as she thought of the words, Resena instantly felt fatigued. Her body felt as though it was due to fall apart at any moment. Her feet instantly began to ache, and her arms began to feel heavy. Julius was right. She wasn’t going to be able to make the three-mile walk home. Not in this state.

As soon as she entered the car, Resena instantly felt relaxed. Maybe she was more tired than she thought? Or maybe she just did not want to do that 3-mile walk, whatever the case, she was just glad she had the ride.

“So, what’s you address”

“33412 Darmond Way, Garden Estates.”

Julius couldn’t believe it; he knew this location. The Garden Estates owned by Delvoy Lanster?! This lady worked for the Lansters? Julius had heard stories about the Lansters and how they could be strict with servants, but he never expected them to be this cruel and strict. The thought of that concerned him. He had been contemplating the possibility of doing business with Lanster Corp, but if this was how he treated his employees, Julius was reluctant to do so.

“So, you work for the Lansters?”

“(In a low voice), They’re my aunt and uncle.”

What compelled her to just say that? One of the rules from her aunt and uncle was to never disclose they were family. The Lansters didn’t want the social backlash of the public to know the truth about how they abused Resena, so she was ordered never to reveal the truth. So why? Why had she just told him?
